My Dented Sign

I love little things that spark conversations—the kind you notice out of the corner of your eye and can't help but comment on. I never imagined my biggest conversation starter would be a dented, rustic-looking metal sign.
Sure, it has a porcupine on it—that's Annie's signature, after all. But what makes people laugh isn't the porcupine. It's the simple phrase on the sign: "Not a Hugger."
We all know that one person who just isn't into hugs. This sign always leads to stories about someone's aunt who dodges hugs at every family gathering, a friend who pretends to check their phone the moment a hug approaches, or even those Monday mornings when you'd rather avoid any contact at all.
And, of course, it circles back to Annie the Porcupine. People always ask why Annie isn't a bunny or some other cuddly animal. The truth? Annie (the real-life inspiration) can have her prickly moments. If she's not in the mood, I'd honestly rather eat my own arm than try to hug her.
It's so relatable. Everyone knows someone sweet but a little prickly. Someone who loves you but also values their personal space.
So many people have said they'd buy this sign that I've decided to bring a few to my next event. If you know someone like Annie, adorable, lovable, and definitely not a hugger, than keep an eye out. One of these signs might just be coming to an event near you.
