Oh So Tasty Banana Chips

People often ask about my banana chip recipe and if I eat them just like chips. My answer? Of course! Who doesn’t love a nice, crunchy snack? Banana chips are one of those treats that are as fun to eat straight out of the bowl as they are to use in creative ways. I can easily picture Annie the porcupine, one of my favorite story characters, munching on banana chips with the same enthusiasm as someone devouring a bag of potato chips.

But what makes banana chips even better than your average snack is their versatility. These golden little crisps can do so much more than satisfy your craving for something crunchy. Let me show you some of my favorite ways to use them:

1. Add to Trail Mix - Banana chips are the star of any trail mix. Combine them with nuts, dried fruit, and a sprinkle of chocolate chips for a blend that’s both energizing and delicious.

2. Top Your Breakfast - Sprinkle banana chips over yogurt, oatmeal, or cereal for a tropical twist. They add a delightful crunch and natural sweetness to start your day right.

4. Dip in Chocolate - For a treat that feels indulgent, dip banana chips in melted chocolate. Add toppings like shredded coconut or a dash of sea salt for an extra layer of deliciousness.

5. Pair with Nut Butter - Spread peanut or almond butter on banana chips for a protein-packed snack that’s as satisfying as it is simple. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flavor. If dieting, you can even do it on a rice cake or what I call eatable cardboard.

5. Use as a Garnish - Banana chips make a beautiful and crunchy garnish for desserts like banana pudding, cheesecake, or even a scoop of ice cream.

6. Crush for a Crust - Transform banana chips into crumbs and use them as a crust for pies or bars. They add a unique tropical touch to classic desserts.

7. Add to a Charcuterie Board -  Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board?  Banana chips are a fantastic addition to a charcuterie board. I am already thinking about pair them with dried mango, nuts, soft cheeses, and dark chocolate for my next game night.

The Snack with Endless Possibilities

So, while you’ll definitely catch Annie the Porcupine munching on banana chips straight from the bowl, their real magic lies in their versatility. Whether you’re dressing up your breakfast, experimenting with desserts, or adding them to savory snacks, banana chips are a pantry hero. If you need a recipe, I have one in a previous blog post.
